Tomorrow, Saturday 8 October 2016, is Divestment Day – we encourage everyone to take part or, at least, to consider what actions you can take to ensure that your money is not funding climate change.
We recently held a public meeting on the topic of divestment, presented by Jack Bertolus, Research Coordinator at Market Forces, a Melbourne-based organisation that researches and publishes information about investments in fossil fuel projects. Market Forces website contains many useful resources on how to compare banks, superannuation funds and insurance companies, many of which invest heavily in fossil fuels despite having made commitments to change in order to meet the terms of the Paris Agreement.
