Resource Rhymes – primary school students get creative!

Recycling & waste

Resource Rhymes is a project that was conceived and implemented by Sarah Bruns and auspiced by Sustainable Communities SA. We want to congratulate Sarah for her terrific work with primary school students in the Cities of Holdfast Bay, Marion and Onkaparinga.

The project challenged students to create and perform rhymes on the themes of resource conservation and recycling. Over 200 students participated and 2270 community members viewed the rhymes during the voting period. The project took 18 months to complete with over 205 volunteer hours. It is likely to be continued in 2021.

The project has now concluded but the results are available for all to see on YouTube. Congratulations to the 2019 Resource Rhymes winners! First prize winners were:

  • Wake up by Hackham East (Older students)
  • Ban the wrap rap by Westminster (Younger students)

Second prize winners were:

  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle by Craigburn Primary (Older students)
  • Handle 3R’s by Westminster (Younger students)
