Sustainable West

Sustainable West is a group of residents based in Bowden, Brompton and surrounding suburbs. We are interested in hard-to-recycle programs, reducing general waste contamination and resource recovery.

We have a number of small scale projects on the go; a Hard-to-Recycle collection point at 19 on Green community centre (eyeglasses / mobile phones / x-rays / writing items / oral hygiene/ e-waste and soon to include polystyrene); community education on waste separation; and some limited re-purpose and repair activities.

One of our members is exploring the introduction of green waste bins within the new developments in Bowden and a strategy to assist high density complexes to separate and manage hard-to-recycle items.

We want to reduce waste in landfill and encourage greater use of the things we already have.
