With the Friends of the Earth From Plains to Plate – the future of food in South Australia convergence happening this weekend, many of us a busy preparing for our workshops. Sustainable Communities is running three workshops on our experience of behaviour change, our backyard community group gardening experience and preserving the surplus of our backyard harvest using low energy methods. As many of our young members are asking about preserving we will have a Members Event in the near future. We have so many examples to display of solar drying, pickling, salting and low energy bottling.
Harriette and Henrietta are busy too – in January they started laying and gave us 50 delicious brown eggs. With this good backyard protein we have almost cut out cheese. Keep that behaviour change happening!
