Reaping the benefits of vegetables gone to seed
The previous year I let several of my spinach plants go to seed – mainly because I didn’t get around to tidying up that part of the garden before they got to that stage. So I was pleasantly surprised to get a field of spinach popping up with last year’s autumn rains. Spurred on by the success of this inadvertent experiment I let a number of my winter veggies go to seed this summer. After the recent rains I now have lettuce, kale, beetroot, amaranth and broccoli popping up all over my garden. Perfect for a lazy gardener like me!
